Commander GRAFFAM enlisted in the Navy in 1945, and attended Cornell University under the V-5 Program before being released to inactive duty early in 1947. He graduated from Drake University in 1950 and in 1952, after attending the Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, received his commission. Commander GRAFFAM served in USS Frybarger DEC 705, USS Walter B. Comm APD 106, USS McMorris DE 1036, and USS Persistent MSO 491 before reporting to the Naval War College. Following a year in the Command of Staff Course at the NWC, Commander GRAFFAM returned to the Bureau of Naval PErsonnel for another eighteen month tour. In December, 1965 he joined the commissioning detail of the USS Fox DLG 33 and served as Executive Officer until detached in hte fall of 1967. Arriving in Seattle, he reported in November, 1967 as Prospective Commanding Officer of the USS Schofield DEG 3. Current whereabouts unknown. |
